Royal Naval Parade It was all hands on deck last night (25th June) for the unit's Royal Naval Parade which was carried out in front of a large crowd of parents and supporters by the Southern Area Officer, Commander Andy Giles Royal Navy.
The night started with a formal inspection of all the cadets and this was followed by evolutions. The junior section put on a display on how the Naval uniform started linking the days of Nelson and today, complete with a cat walk!!!
It was then the senior sections turn, and they showed evryone how the SCC had developed since 1854 (with a few interpretations of their own). They told how girls first came into the cadets and how in 1955 the marine cadets got started with the aid of Mrs Commandant General Royal Marines (CGRM's Mum). The Surprise evolution was a knot race and for this the cadets got members of the crowd to take part, this included four who were cadets with the CO(a long time ago).
The night ended with Presentations of some awards including the best cadet of the year and both the Horsham Rotary Club and HMS GLORY Association presented cheques to the unit. The unit was also joined on the night by Headteachers and members of the parish and district councils.
